I decided to give calisthenics a go after reading and researching the best method in which to accomplish my goals. Essentially I wanted to increase lean body mass and increase my core strength. Keep in mind I am also making an attempt to bulk up so incorporating weight training is a must. Calisthenics which basically means using ones own bodyweight for resistance is ideal for anyone on a budget as there is no cost for weights or a gym. I usually do pullups, chin ups, dips, pushups and situps. As you progress the sense of reward is enormous, moving through different progressions is simply amazing. In my case I forget entirely about the muscle development and become interested more in the maneuver itself. It's a wonderful way to deal with stress management and selfhealing. The end result of most calisthenic movements are the stimulation and growth of your type 2 muscles. These are your fast twitch muscle group and in theory will allow for more explosive type movement when developed correctly. This is also good if your impatient, as calisthenics progression takes plenty of time if you are serious about achieving goals. In essence it becomes a journey.
