Supplementation

I wanted to take a moment to do a small blurb on my protein supplements. After years of trying different proteins I have become partial with a Canadian brand named PVL. I use either ISO Gold or mutant ISO SURGE, cost depending. In this case I'm just finishing up a 6lb tub of PVL ISO Gold and transitioning to a 6lb tub of ISO SURGE. I won't really get into the difference between the two as they are almost identical in terms of their ingredients. I highly recommend a good quality whey isolate when doing any form of resistance training. I mix my protein shakes with water as to not get high calorie counts from drinking milk, also these products have removed lactose altogether so if you are lactose intolerant you will be fine. The product mixes well with a shaker cup, its sweetened with sucralose and stevia so insulin spikes will be minimal after ingesting as it will be caused by protein only. They have added BCAA's along with a broad spectrum of essential amino acids. Now the question remains why take a protein supplement? Simple answer is it's much more cost effective than buying high protein foods like fish, chicken breast, lean beef etc. It is a major part of muscle synthesis especially after creating hypertrophy ( muscle tears) during and after resistance training. The added BCAA'S bypass digestion and are absorbed directly by skeletal muscle. This is an incredible bonus as leucine (one of the 3 BCAA'S is the so called trigger of muscle synthesis). I take one scoop with 200 ml of water twice daily, once during my workout and once before bed.
